TORSTEN JURELL - GOOD NEWS FROM THE LOWER WORLD!
The spring exhibition at the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities. 13 February to 9 May 2010
Through the exhibition, Jurell takes the visitor on a journey through the underworld. Here you will meet characters such as the Cockroach Girl, who thirsts for love, and whose destiny is summed up in a series of images. On his travels through the great and the small, Jurell has been inspired by the significant and the seemingly insignificant. In the underworld, Jurell creates a Messenger and a Dragon Root. Three Taihu Stones Theatre includes the performance The Last Word – a one-act play with two marionettes and a loud-speaker tower. His Turbine Cutlets float from the ceiling in bronze and aluminium, like enormous Tibetan prayer wheels.
The exhibition at the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities has come about through Jurell’s contact with China, where he has worked and staged a number of exhibitions. Good News from the Lower World! features sculpture, painting, collage, prints and ink painting by Torsten Jurell, and will run from 13 February until 9 May 2010.
Welcome to the world of Torsten Jurell!
